The Oregonian broke the news today that City Center Parking has been sold to a Canadian firm Imperial Parking Corp. City Center Parking manages all of the parking lots in downtown Portland that house the food carts – PSU, SW 3rd and Washington, SW 5th and Stark, SW 10th and Alder and SW 3rd and Ash to name a few. By my count, 150 vendors rely on a parking spot provided by City Center Parking. That’s over 50% of Portland’s vibrant street food scene.
What will this mean for the vendors? According to the article, the original owners will continue to stay involved with company operations and no significant changes will take place. I guess time will tell. We’ll keep you posted as to any other news regarding this sale.
What do you think? Will we see a major change in our daily lunch options?
