Thai Garden

Location: SE 102nd and Stark
Hours: Mon-Sat, 11am-7pm

The Story:

The lot at southeast 102nd and Stark has become the go to spot for the areas eaters. With food choices ranging from Indian to Salvadorian to Mexican to Phillapino, you can traverse the culinary world by only walking about 20 feet. Thai Garden is there to fill that gap.

Thai Garden serves up authentic Thai cuisine with a menu of curry and stir fry dishes. This is one of those carts that has explicit ordering guidelines – 1. Select Food; 2. Choose chicken or tofu; 3. How Spicy?; 4. White or brown rice? I love that. It makes it easy and simplifies the decision process. The menu here includes noodle dishes, fried rice, curry or stir fry. The day we visited, it was fried rice with tofu, egg, onion, broccoli, peas, carrots and tomatoes. Fried rice is a dish I love unconditionally as it is simple and full of crunchy vegetables. You can eat it hot or cold and it gets better in the fridge for leftovers. Thai Garden’s fried rice was well done.

  1. This place was delicious. My wife and I usually trek out to Thai Ginger in NoPo because we’ve tried other places and they don’t compare. We live in SE now and I think we’ve found our new spot for thai take out. Had the spring rolls, pad thai w/chicken and yellow curry w/chicken and we spent under $20!

  2. I heard about Thai Garden from the nurses at Portland Adventist Medical Center. I decided to try the food, since I love Thai food. Their food is very reasonable and very good. I am impressed! I can feed my three teenagers and myself for under $20.00. Way better than burgers!

  3. I love Thai food, and this is by far the best. The mango red curry is a MUST try if you are a curry fan!

  4. i love the salad rolls! thank god there in walking distance of work, definitely a life saver. No more freezer meals! :)

  5. love the salad roll, i could eat them everyday <3

  6. Christy says:

Loved this place when they were on 122nd and thrilled when the cart came back. The owners are the nicest people and they take pride in their food and service. Sadly we were informed they will no longer offer mushroom sauce in place of fish sauce for vegans and vegetarians. After ten years of eating here we are now excluded. There are others who wills surely be disappointed in this as well, we refer many to their business from our business.
