Vintage Trailer for sale, Memorial Day and News

Last weekend when we ventured throughout NE Portland on Sunday Parkways, we rode by this beauty – a vintage Land Commander. Sitting their preening to all the bikers going by, my first thought was – future food cart. I kinda say that anytime I see a vintage trailer or airstream or step van. Who’s going to be the first to convert a UPS truck into a food truck. This trailer was for sale for $1900 with contact phone of 503 830 5167.

Are you planning on being open Memorial Day weekend? I’ve already heard from a few carts that are planning a little vacation before the Summer rush begins. Let us know and we’ll get the word out later this week.

_______________

Heard a rumor about another cart pod opening at 50th and Division. Anyone want to comment? I know that is where Los Gorditos is and I saw a crepe cart there last week. Being just a couple blocks from another pod at 48th, is that too many carts in one location for SE. Talk amongst yourselves.

Portland’s food carts are in the media again. The Washington Post pointed them out last week in this article. Canada seems to love the food carts also. Just last week, I met with the Canadian Broadcasting Company and the Vancouver Sun, so expect to see more Canadians here this summer.

_______________

Big-Ass Sandwiches and VanSchnitzels will be filming with the Food Network this week on Thursday. If you want your mug on TV, go visit those carts. Follow their Twitter streams for more details and times.

_______________

DomoDogs, the Japanese fusion dogs, have relocated to Portland from Tigard. They are now open at the corner of SE 26th and Belmont. Open 12-2.

Whiffies celebrated their 1 yr anniversary Friday with a piechamp competition. @Descripting won by putting down and keeping down 9 1/2 pies in an hour. Well done.

Keep Cartin’

  1. Cora Potter says:

The spot where Cora y Huichol is on 82nd and Holgate also appears to be turning into a potential pod location. The Goodwill truck has moved out, Cora y Huichol has moved over to the east side of the lot and owners have put in a new “corral” fence that has a “for lease” sign on it.

NAMU will be open for Memorial Day Weekend and we have been told by many hungry people that we have the best pulled pork sandwich in Portland. It is not like anything else out there. Our vegan bowls and korean ribs are also great. Thanks!

Spending Mem. Day wknd in PDX and have been looking foward to checking out some carts. Just came across your site and see that you’re planning on posting who’s open/closed this weekend – thanks! Love the site and looking forward to eating my way around PDX.

I live near 50th & Division and haven’t seen much action besides Los Gorditos. The rumor may pertain to the 48th & Division pod. It seems like they are jamming a whole lot of carts in a tiny lot there. I haven’t looked into the food options there yet.
