Su Casa Taqueria

Location: SE 82nd Ave, south of E Burnside

The Story:

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday morning and we were cruising around to different garage sales looking for loot. Once spring arrives, we try and hit up the sales for gardening items in prep for summer. While driving down 82nd, a very colorful street here in Portland, I saw the huge red lettering – TACOS – and almost caused an accident turning into the lot where Su Casa Taqueria is located. I was in need for some carnitas.

Su Casa Taqueria offers up what you would expect from a taco truck – tacos, burritos, tortas etc. Even though I know this truck had been around for awhile, it looked brand new. They even have a covered, heated seating area. Further, the prices are low – $1 for a taco.

After I ordered my two tacos, two other men arrived and were greeted in that familiar way as if the owner had been at their childrens’ christenings. I was ready to see some huggin’ happening. Yet another sign that this cart makes great food and serves their customers well. The carnitas and lengua (beef tongue) tacos I enjoyed came with a sprinkle of chopped cilantro and onion, some grilled onions, a handful of chopped radishes, a wedge of lime and a freshly grilled spicy jalapeno. A great lunch to provide endurance for the remainder of the day.

Su Casa Taqueria opens up at 9am daily and stays open until 9pm weekdays and 10pm on the weekends. When you are out on the east side and looking for a quick bite, drop on by Su Casa Taqueria just south of the Safeway and let them know Food Carts Portland sent ya.
