Bill Walton, Portland Trail Blazer
Mississippi Marketplace up in North Portland will celebrate their grand opening in style with the guest appearance by former Portland Trailblazer Bill Walton. Bill Walton was a basketball king in the late 70′s when he led the Blazers to a national championship against the Philadelphia 76ers in 1977. I remember going to the airport that year to welcome the Blazers home and being so amazed at how tall they were. Such memories.
Roger Goldingay, the owner of Mississippi Marketplace has a gem on his hand. All of the carts are in place including Nuevo Mexico, Southwestern Pizza, The Sugarcube, The Ruby Dragon, Native Bowl, Patty’s Wagon, The Big Egg, Sushi Tree and Dogfeathers. The lot has seen a ton of activity of late with a produce market last weekend and now the grand opening. I’m not sure if Prost!, the German Tavern in the lot will open – one can only hope. I will say the carts are busy – there is always a crowd when we wander by.
Come on down on Saturday between 1-6pm and say hi to a Portland sports legend and welcome the carts to the neighborhood. Also, take in some of the fine food that they have to offer. TriMet’s #4 will drop you off in front and Yellow Line MAX’s Prescott stop is just a few blocks away across I5.
