The Oregonian has started to publish a new magazine that focuses on food, drink and entertainment in Portland. Our own Cuisine Bonne Femme wrote a great article on Nuevo Mexico called How to Open and Run you own Food Cart. It is such a great article on the trials and tribulations of opening a new cart and how Jesse Sandoval succeeded. For all of you intersted in becoming a cartrepreneur, you should read this article. Great writing CBF.

I’ve seen the magazine and It’s a nice slick covered brightly colored production much like Imbibe. It had some good articles about areas within the city and had real nice adds. I’m trying to find it at the newstand…
It’s actually a monthly mag. We get a ton of them dropped on the doorstep of our building. We’ve gotten three so far. They also sell it at the Saturday market by the info area.
pick up a copy of Mix at over 450 retail locations in the Portland area. Go to mixpdx.com and click on retail locations to find one near you. You may also subscribe by following the subscriber link on the site.
Mix will begin publishing 10x per year starting in September 2009!
It would have been nice if the artical “How to Open and Run you own Food Cart” actually had information on HOW to open and run a food cart. There wasn’t any instructional information in the article. It was more of a story about a guy who started a food cart.
Also, the latest issue of Bon Appetit (Sept 09) has an article & nice photos of Portland food carts, including Tabor, Potato Champion, Taqueria Los Gorditos, Junior Ambassador, Ziba’s Pitas, & Crown Q.
It’s written by Nancy Rommelmann, who I believe is a Portland-based writer.
