Description: Look at this lovely senorita and handsome senor in their pastoral surroundings. Don’t they look so happy to be plastered on the side of this spiffy white taco truck? I would be too, since the food at Taqueria Villanueva is some of the better Mexican food at the many downtown carts.
Taqueria Villanueva serves cuisine typicales of taco trucks in our city: various forms of big ass burittos, different types meat based tacos, fish tacos, chilli rellenos, and combination plates. But what they make is always fresh and made with care.
There are a lot of taco trucks in Portland, but Villanueva is certainly one of the better ones.

hi CBF – One of the things I really enjoyed about the food carts in PDX, was that each had it[‘s own, for the lack of my ablility to really explain, “personality”…some of those carts add such vibrance and color to the neighborhood.
the couple that runs this cart makes an absolutely fantastic chorizo burrito. definitely worth a walk up to PSU for one…
It may be of interest to folkks that the man does the cooking while the woman takes your order. They are both really nice. I like the chili relleno burrito – a great vegetarian option (but not strictly vegetarian, since they use the same grill for meats, and certainly not vegan!!! ).
If you go, try the Al Pastor. It is very good. I typically get the Torta with All pastor as the bread blends well and soaks up the yummy juices. The tacos are a bit lighter and focuses on the flavor of the Al Pastor pork.
meat eaters might do well here, but this was one of the most blah vegetarian burritos i’ve come across.
Taqueria Villanueva is by far THE best Mexican food cart in downtown Portland.
The owners are so sweet and truly want to see your happy face when you eat their food. You go there enough and you almost feel like you’re family. Plus, the usuals are pretty fun to talk to too.
Aside from that, the food is amazing! Tamales, enchiladas, tacos, burritos…ALL delicious. I like the quesadillas too but they tend to be on the greasy side.
My partner and I can’t get enough of this place!….I mean we eat Mexican food four times a week…can’t get enough!
If you want good Mexican food and good company, Taqueria Villanueva is the way to go.
I absolutely love their vegetarian and chicken tacos. The green sauce is incredible. My boyfriend hates spicy food but can’t seem to get enough of the sauce.
The couple that run the cart as so friendly, it makes me want to support their business even more.
hahaha same last name as the taqueria villanueva WELL WHAT CAN I SAY I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE DIS PLACE MOST CUZ WELL DAT COUPLE RAISED ME WITH TACOS SINCE I WAS ABLE TO CHEW hahahahaha yepp love da tacos!!!
I stopped going here over a year ago because they kept getting my order wrong. They gave me the slimy shredded beef several times, which I just can’t stomach. I tried it again today, I ordered a Chicken Taquito Plate. He repeated the order back to me. When I got back to my office, I opened a Beef Fajita Plate. I won’t be back. The food is good, but not when you don’t get what you want!
I loved the flavor of these tacos, but the cubes of meat were way too fatty! I guess I’ll try some shredded meat if I go another time.
yumminess!
