Food Carts at the Timbers and other News
The Portland Timbers will be hosting some of Portland's street food gems for upcoming home games the remainder of the season. As part of the Portland Timbers Food Cart Alliance, vendors could join and have Timbers' fans vote on who they want to see at the game. Starting Sunday, August 5 against FC Dallas, you can enjoy some Kalua Pork from 808 Grinds. August 25 will host The Frying Scotsman; August 31 will host Pepper Box; September 15 will host Big-Ass Sandwiches. BOOM! More details can be found here

If you've ever wondered about working in a cart and what technology they use, check out Intel's 3 part series on cart life. They chat with owners and discuss the how to start, what technology they use and how to promote. Local vendors The Gaufre Gourmet, Portland Pedal Power and Big-Ass Sandwiches are featured. Thanks Intel! __________

If you're out and about tonight for First Thursday in the Pearl, find Koi Fusion up at Lizard Lounge and Thrive PDX at PICA. If you're in North Portland, check out Home Plate Sliders at Bridgetown Beer on N Mississippi and Shaver.

The Grilled Cheese Grill made an announcement today that they are hiring all locations including for the Shotgun Sub Shop. Yep, the GCG empire continues to grow with a new cart and concept downtown at SW 10th and Washington next to their bright red cart. Watch for a grand opening soon.

Here at Food Carts Portland, we support the work of the Portland Opera and Broadway Across America. This week, I had the pleasure of hosting the cast of The Jersey Boys
who joined me for a food cart tour downtown. The Jersey Boys is an award winning musical telling the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and is currently playing at Keller Auditorium through August 12

The Jersey Boys The Jersey Boys

The men, Joseph Leo Bwarie as Frankie Valli, John Gardiner as Tommy deVito, Preston Truman Boyd as Bob Gaudio and Michael Lomenda as Nick Massi tackled the food and wouldn't stop until they realized they needed to perform later. We started with fried tuna belly from Euro Trash and moved on to grilled cheese sandwiches from a Jersey native The Grilled Cheese Grill. Then Nong's Khao Man Gai and some dumplings from The Dump Truck and a liege style waffle from The Gaufre Gourmet. In between, Joseph snagged some soup from Savor Soup House along with a pulled pork sandwich from A Little Bit of Smoke. We then walked a bit to burn off some calories and finished the day with a Dude from Bro-Dogs and smoked salmon sliders from Salmon Fusion. Did I mention these guys can eat? Such a fun day spending time with some great guys. Thank you Portland Opera for setting that up and thank you Portland food carts for putting on your A game.
