The hunger statistics are very grim in Oregon. According to the Oregon Food Bank from July 2007 though June 2008 in Oregon:

More than 200,000 people per month ate meals from an emergency food box. That compares to about 192,000 in 2006-07.

4-million emergency meals were served at soup kitchens and shelters.

87,000 people received food through other programs in the OFB Network

I could spend a long time here waxing poetic to get you all to donate, but I won’t. Here’s the deal short and sweet: People are really suffering out there right now, more so than in a long long time. When so many people are having such trouble even getting a simple basic like food, we have shared problem as a society. On a website that spends so much time talking about food and how wonderful and delicious and fun it is, it’s only fair that we all do what we can to help those less fortunate. For some of us this might be nothing more than the cost of a burrito. But trust me, it all helps. Please do what you can to help your feed fellow Oregonians during these mean times we are in.

Thanks.
