Captured By Porches Guerrilla Public House

Captured By Porches

Location: NE 21st and Alberta
Hours: Thurs-Sat, 2-10pm

The Story:

Portland has defined itself as the street food capital over the past few years with 50% growth and expansion throughout the city. Now, with the opening of Captured by Porches Guerrilla Public House, we have our first beer bus on location to serve their craft alongside nosh from the carts.

Captured By Porches Brewing has been around since 2002 when a few homebrewers got together to taste each other’s beers. Located in St. Helen’s, Captured is the work of Dylan Goldsmith and Suzanne Moodhe who have a skill with the barley and hops along with a goal to reduce waste in their part of the industry. All of their waste from brewing becomes animal feed and they use re-usable bottles that consumers pay and extra $1 for and return for cleaning. I was first introduced to their beer out on Sauvies Island a few years back when I saw they served beer out of a bus for special events. Now, Dylan and Suzanne moved the beer bus to D-Street Noshery to serve their craft to the patrons of the carts. Serving alcohol from carts has been a discussion point for awhile now and they figured it out. Well done.

If you are visiting the carts at D-Street Rose City Food Park, take a breather and relax in the tent with a beer from Captured By Porches. Or, if you are taking your food to go, bring a container so you can take a beer home. I’m excited to see this new trend with the cart scene and hope to down a few in the near future.
