Location: SW 9th and Washington

The Story:
Portland foodies were abuzz a few weeks ago about the opening of Noodle House and now I know why. Hand pulled noodles can really change your perspective of many dishes.
Noodle House is the work of Leung Kwun Hung, the former chef at Du Kuh Bee, a Korean gem in Beaverton. The secret of this cart is the hand pulled noodles, made fresh daily then mixed with your choice of either seafood or a selection of meats and vegetables. The cart’s sign has a great photo of Leung with his arm’s outstretched with fresh noodles from hand to hand as if he was playing cat’s in the cradle. I wonder if the noodles would hold up in that game…

Seafood Noodles from Noodle House
The Seafood Noodle dish comes with baby squid, large calamari rings, shrimp, cabbage, onions and basil. I was amazed at the amount of seafood in this dish and how fresh it tasted and the prep was perfect. The calamari and baby squid were cooked just right so at to not be rubbery, but enjoyable. The noodles, the feature of the dish, were al dente, just how I like them and add in the little bit of fresh basil and I had to force myself to slow down while eating.. A great mix of ingredients make an excellent dish with a piece of handmade flare.
Noodle House is now open at the Alder pod at SW 9th and Washington. The prices for lunch range from $6-$7.99 and the portions match the price. If you have never had hand pulled noodles or even if you have, drop on by Noodle House and give them a try and let them know Food Carts Portland sent ya.

Got the seafood noodles there yesterday. I highly recommend. It contained a good amount of seafood for the price, and it was tender, not chewy.
My only complaint is that I asked for it spicy, and to my taste, it was very mild. But that’s easily fixed with some hot sauce.
Agree with G2. Also the owner is a really friendly guy.
Yum-O. think this might be my first stop when I get to portland in a week and a half (if I get there on saturday before 6pm
)
Had the #3 (chicken noodles) and it was wonderful. Would agree that he could kick the spice up a notch, but that is a minor quibble. The noodles lived up to the billing.
Unfortunately I was not impressed with the chicken noodles. They were lacking in flavor. The noodles themselves were great, you can’t beat the texture of freshly made noodles. However, the seasoning was lacking and the whole dish just lacked flavor. Also tried the chicken fried rice and it too was lacking in flavor. I’ve had the noodles at Duk a Bee restaurant and they were really good, loaded with flavor. Hope this was an anomaly. BTW, they’re open on Sundays now from 11:00 to 4 .
Just had the chicken noodles. I requested mild (not spicy). The taste is good, mild (may be considered bland for some folks but I like them this way). The noodles are PERFECT–thick like udon but chewy and firm. I like that these noodles are hand-pulled.
Had the chicken noodles and thought I had gone to heaven. Plenty of spices at the counter to adjust heat to your liking. Owner is very friendly with nice family. I will return!
I don’t really understand the hype around this place.
Yes, the noodles are hand-pulled, and yes they are good. The meat and vegetable preparation was fine, but that’s about it.
I ordered the chicken noodles, which stated they were “spicy curry”. The woman working also asked me if I wanted it spicy, to which I replied yes. The noodles I got tasted like neither curry nor spice. Even thought they were covered in what appeared to be red chili, they had no heat whatsoever. They tasted like noodles, chicken, oil, and a little soy sauce. No garlic, ginger, scallion, or anything else to give this dish flavor. The vegetables were mostly cabbage and sprouts, which don’t bring much to the party either. Gonna pass on this place.
handmade noodles! craftsmanship that is hard to come by in a fresh and delicious form of a noodle. a must try. i get mine EXTRA SPICY with seafood.
also, the owners are wonderfully nice people.
