Today is another installation of Third Wednesday PDX, a day when the carts give back to the community. Today’s charity of choice is the Sunshine Division, a non-profit emergency food relief organization that has been helping Portland families since the 1920′s. Participating carts include:

  • Big-Ass Sandwiches – SW 3rd and Ash
  • Ninja Plate Lunch – SW 3rd and Ash
  • Give Pizza a Chance  – SW 5th and Stark
  • The Big Egg – N Mississippi at Skidmore
  • Whiffies Fried Pies  – SE 12th and Hawthorne
  • Ali Baba’s Turkish Kitchen – SW 10th and Alder
  • Built to Grill  – SW 3rd and Stark
  • The Kettle Kitchen – N Killingsworth and Greeley

When you make your lunch choice today, think about supporting one of these awesome carts. Well done Portland.

  1. I love Portland’s food carts more and more every day. What a cool, strong community that supports those in need. I’m humbled by the cart owners every day.

How do carts participate in these charitable causes, and is it a percentage of sales they are donating? Where can we find more info about this “3rd Wednesday” event? Also – is there a list of causes/charities that the carts contribute to?
