New Year's Eve - Food Cart Style

Well, it is the end of the year and I know you plan on ringing in 2010 in style. The are plenty of carts who plan on being open to feed the masses, so you should plan your night accordingly.



Big-A** Sandwiches, the latest addition to downtown will be open and ready with some amazing sandwiches, fries and other goodies. They sold out today, so that tells you they have some customer love. We have been assured they are prepared for you tomorrow night and your sandwich needs. Big-A** Sandwiches is located on SW 3rd and Ash by the Ash St. Saloon and around the corner from Berbati's and Dantes. They plan on opening around 8pm and staying open till the wee hours of the new year. _______________



Stella's on Stark has been Tweeting up a storm letting us in on their New Year's Eve adventure. Mostly it has to do with an amazing menu offering of giant portioned food. Some examples:

Got the Horseshoe 1LB Golden Hashbrowns,Angus Patty,Bacon,Onions,Peppers,Jalapenos,Fried Egg,Cheddar,all atop Grilled hoagie for $6

“The Juggernaut Burrito” Black Beans,Eggs,Bacon,Jalapeno,Onions and Peppers,Cheese & Cilantro all in a huge Flour Tortilla with Creole Aioli, This thing is 2LB’s all for $6.00

“Triple Threat Burger” Angus Beef Patty,Pulled Pork,Bacon,Jalapenos,Carmalized Onions,Provalone and Cheddar, Fried Egg atop grilled bun…all for $6.50

They also have stuff planned for around midnight, so you'll have to visit to see. Check out this recent addition to the cart scene at SW 3rd and Stark - the green cart on the corner. Oh, and bring napkins. _______________

CARTOPIA - need I say more? Cartopia is the cart pod at SE 12th and Hawthorne. Cartopia defined the term "late night pod" in 2009 and would proclaim themselves as the cart pod for NYE. It is my understanding that most, if not all of the carts will be open throughout the night - Whiffies, Potato Champion, YARP?!, Bubba Bernies, Pyro Pizza. This is where the after party will happen. Word! ______________

Suzette on NE 29th and Alberta is having hosting both a movie night and some live music:

We begin the celebrations with lively music and silent movies at 6:00. First up is The Cook and Other Treasures (1917), with Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton. At 7:15 is Siren of the Tropics (1927), with Josephine Baker. In addition to our regular menu, we're featuring a New Year's prix fixe menu!

stuffed mushrooms crostini with prosciutto and quince garden salad with roasted beets and balsamic vinaigrette crab, meyer lemon, fennel and crème fraîche crêpe butternut squash, sautéed kale and goat cheese crêpe chocolate and jasmine soufflé cake with honey ice cream and candied pistachios

All for $15!
