Big-Ass Sandwiches was disappointing. I tried the one with the beef and it was a sloppy gooey mess of cheese on top of meat that the roll didn't contain.

Never had anything remotely approaching Rico's experience, that said, I am not usually a fan of what I like to call the "ciabata treatment" but I was pleasantly surprised. The bread was chewy with a rich yeasty flavor, the fries were a little underdone but the meat was sumptuous, might consider getting a double meat next time. After ditching about half of the bread I ate the rest of the meat piece by piece at my desk throughout the afternoon.

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was with the lousy sandwich I got from this cart. I AM A FOODIE. Watch Anthony Bourdain religiously. Read ALL of his books etc. Was frequenting carts around PDX as frequently as I could and have been so pleasantly surprised with the variety, the quality, and the price of carting my meals. The I came here to BigAssed Sandwiches and what I got for my money was a semi stale roll, very VERY over cooked and dried out beef, a load of cold french fries stuffed inside of the sandwich and some watered down gravy to make it a total tasteless mess.

Do yourself a Big Ass favor and avoid this dump. With SO MANY HIGH QUALITY carts in our wonderful; city … you can do MUCH MUCH BETTER … Promise !

I have mapped out the route from my apartment in Tigard to Big-Ass Sandwiches, with an emphasis on speed. I can make it home with a steaming bag of magical sandwiches within 10 minutes on a good friday or saturday night. The cart is conveniently stuck next to Front (or Naito or whatever we're calling it), which spits you onto I-5. My point? Do what you must to get to this joint, but get there. It's worth it.

Today, was my second venture from Vancouver to 3rd & Ash to consume one of these delicious sandwiches. First time was around the 29th of December. I thought that was delicious then, but the second go-around, I ordered the same thing. A roast beef gutbomb with grilled onions and mushrooms, all topped off with fresh french fries and a the delicious bechamel cheese sauce. And to add a little zing, aardvark. When being handed the sandwich, I had anticipated it to be lighter than it was, so upon receiving it, I almost dropped the sandwich, not knowing that what I have ordered was roughly two pounds of awesome win. After sitting down and unraveling the sandwich, I took a giant first bite. With the result of sheer ecstasy exploding in my mouth and a face literally covered in the cheese sauce, I knew that at that point, there is a god, and he has taken the form of a Big-Ass Sandwich. 'nuff said. Oh, and to Matt, I saw that episode and have eaten at Primanti's and they have nothing on BAS.

I concur with Matt being an A** HOLE. Do you really think recipes are never replicated. That's not the point dude. Ever have an omelete? Yeah, it's eggs and some filling. But we all have our favorite breakfast spot and "that" omelete is the best in the world. It's about what's in front of you dog and Big ASS Sandwiches RULE the streets of Portland!!! So eat, enjoy and don't be so bitter. It makes for a sour tummy.

Jason, good question. From my perspective, I don't think it would get too soggy. The cheese sauce on mine actually firmed up as it cooled which is what I like.

One option would be to ask if they can provide you the cheese sauce in a to go container that you can add later.
