I used to go to Mr. Taco when I worked downtown and before they upgraded their cart. They had a lot less business than the other carts, and I chose to go there because the menu looked more "authentic" (some English grammar mistakes). It is still my favorite cart. If you get to know the owner, she is very friendly and will chat with you if she's not busy.

And yes, their tacos are the best I've ever had.

Hi Garrick,

Honestly no. I was going to write something about it, but soon realized the research would be incredibly time consuming.

The standard restaurant price model generally applies to carts = equipment, labor, capital, food and other operating costs, profit/cost margin. There is no single magic place to get this info.

Your best bet is to take the standard food biz model and apply it to carts - those are pretty easily available in basic business books. Carts can range from 5k to 100K. Rents can range from trade to $700 a month, with additions such as electrical, water dump fees, garbage or not. It really just depends on what kind of cart, where they are located, who the landlord is, etc.

Sorry, an answer that isn't really and answer, but not a lot of research yet on this stuff. You're a trailblazer!

Hey Food Carters!

Appreciate the excellent work and reviews you provide. Researching the food stand biz but having trouble finding info on the financial aspects of the food stand business like opening costs, revenues, rents etc.. Any idea where I can find that kind of info?

Any help appreciated!

At this years Cinco de Mayo Fest on the waterfront I took it upon myself to find the best taco of the fest. Daunting, laborous, sweaty and intense, but I was nothing if not determined.

Mr Taco won hands down. Excelent meat (I liked the pork over the chicken or the beef) served on a fresh, hot tortilla with onions and cilantro if you want it. They have 4 or 5 sauces to choose from if you so desire. I like the runny green stuff best.

Best. Taco. Ever.
