Back in August, Portland was visited by NBC Nightly News to do a piece on Portland’s food cart scene. It was a great few days showing the producer around and chatting with him and introducing him to some of Portland’s cart owners. Greg Abbot from Whiffies and I were interviewed on Strangelovelive that week and that segment alone gave the article some meat. Originally, I think it was to be a Portland vs. New York piece. I think Portland got the better deal. You decide.

Portland totally schools New York! So glad they found you. Thanks for being Mayor of the Carts.

I’m really proud of Dieslboi for continuing to do a kick-butt job in my absence and for all the fantastic cart owners and diners in continuing to make – dare I say it? – Portland’s cart scene one of the strongest in the U.S. (I’m not getting into the NYC vs. PDX cart debate. I’ve already written about that).
As a NYer I’d be lying if I said the NYC foodcart scene even compared to Portland’s. For the extremely brief time I had there in the beginning of September, I was amazed. The carts are reason alone to go back. It’s great to see.
Hey Brett – So excited to see you and the Portland cart scene getting this coverage! Keep up the awesome work.
