Tito's Burritos

Tito's Burritos

Location: SW 3rd and Washington

Description:

I have been a fan of Tito’s Burritos for a few years now.  I moved back downtown for work in 2004 and quickly jumped back into the food cart scene.  I was so jones’n for some great tacos.  It took me a few years to actually discover Tito’s and thier $1.25 (at the time) tacos, but when I did, I was a happy young man.  Last summer I decided to do a comparison, so hit many of the local taco carts specifically to sample their wares.  In the end, I kept coming back to Tito’s.

Tito’s does a traditional taco (as far as I can understand is traditional.)  This isn’t the childhood taco I nor any of my friends had in the burbs when we were kids.  They offer up tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos and tortas.  They offer many of the traditional meat options you would normally find at a Mexican restaurant including vegitarian.  Chorizo, Carnitas, Pastor, Machaca, Pollo, Asada, and Fish.  I picked up 4 tacos – Carnitas, Asada, Pastor and Fish and none dissapointed.

Tacos

Tacos are only $1.50.  That’s cheaper than a latte.

There is also a Tito’s Burritos II at 9th and Alder.

As it happens, Tito’s was the closest food cart to where I worked, so I started going there on my breaks. I got some of my coworkers hooked on their tacos.

I have tried these tacos: veggie, carnitas, asada, chicken, fish. I crave them afterI haven’t had them for a while. The veggie and the fish tacos are my favorites. The meat tacos can be a little too salty to my taste.

I also LOVE the veggie torta.

I still visit often even though I no longer work nearby.

This is by far my favorite taco truck in Portland. Tito’s is the best.

I almost had them cater my wedding. I love them that much. Small caveat: don’t eat there if Tito isn’t cooking. I got the worse food poisoning. Otherwise–food-cart perfection.

I go to Tito’s at least once a week, either for lunch or stopping on the way home to pick up dinner. When I go to get lunch, I usually end up getting 20 tacos for people at my office – they all love them! The carnitas and chorizo tacos are awesome, as are the carne asada. Actually, all the tacos are!!! I haven’t tried anything else except for the beans and cheese – and OMG are they good!

With respect to KOi Fusion, which I love, Tito’s is my favorite taco cart in town. Friendly service, good prices, and delicious food that hits the spot for lunch or a quick bite after work.
