Location: SE 48th and Division
Description: In a shiny black and silver industrial cart with one serious looking smoker on the back, LeRoy’s looks primed to make some serious ‘Q.
But don’t overlook the other menu items. LeRoy’s offers 6 different kinds of Po-Boys and enough vegetarian sides (potato salad, collard greens, Black eyed peas and coleslaw) to well, make even a vegetarian happy.
Brought to you by the former owner and chef of the Delta Cafe on SE Woodstock, LeRoy’s is a no nonsense BBQ joint like one might find scattered all over the Southeastern U.S. I grew up on real BBQ (North Carolina style), and although I haven’t tried LeRoy’s yet, driving miles out of the way to some dusty parking lot near train tracks for good food was such a part of my childhood that visiting the far reaches of St. Johns for pulled pork seems normal. Hell, my family would drive 3 hours out of the way for good BBQ. So give LeRoy’s a try and let me know what you think. I’ll try to visit soon enough.
Sample Menu: The menu is basic, as any true BBQ joint should be, with a major emphasis on pork, pork and more pork. Although, all the sides are vegetarian.
Pork Spareribs – 3 bones with 1 side $6.50, or 2 sides $8.00. 6 bones with 1 side $10.50, or 2 sides $12.00
BBQ Chicken – 1/4 chicken with 1 side $5.50, with 2 sides $7.00. 1/2 chicken with 1 side $9.00 or 2 sides $10.50
Pulled Pork served w/ texas toast – With 1 side $6.50. With 2 sides $8.00
BBQ Combo Plate – Choose 2 meats, with 1 side $11.00. With 2 sides $12.50
Po Boys (half or whole) in the $6.50 to $7.00 for a half. Whole $11.00 – $12.00
Choices include Fried Oyster, Fried Shrimp, BBQ Shrimp, Fried Catfish, Pulled Pork
Queen’s Favorite Po Boy – w/ brie, roasted garlic, mushroom and tomato
Sides (all vegetarian) include Potato Salad, Collard Greens, Black Eye Peas, Coleslaw (small $3.00 each, large $5.00). Side combo platter (choose 3 sides) for $6.00
Hours: Mon-Fri 12-7. Saturday 1-6PM

I would not make a long drive for Leroy’s. As a matter of fact, I live 4 blocks away, and I won’t be going back. The sample menu is not the current menu. A small portion of pulled pork is $6 with no sides. Small sides are $2. When they say small,,,they are very serious. Portions are miniscule, and the $20 lunch for two (no drinks, no deserts) was a joke.
Leroy was sleeping when I got there at 11:45, and i suspect he will be able to get quite a bit of rest since the fans were not lining up for lunch. He could probably sleep in the smoker since it was icy cold from lack of use.
Let this one die a natural death!!!
G’day mate,
my name is Sam Morgan i am currently a student in Australia and am studying a subject called “Entrepreneurship”. For our main assignment we are asked to create a feasibility plan for business we create, of course this is all fabricated and not put into place. At the end of the assignment, we present this plan to our teachers and tutors and pretend as if they were interested investors. We have chosen to create a business similar to yours, we call is the Chill Grill. I see that your business looks quite sucessfull and i have a few questions to ask, firstly, the mobile van you use for the production, obviously this is a unique car not exactly out of the show room, what type of costs, and set up was needed to create this? Secondly, the storage of food etc, is that all on board the vehicle and can is change location, i.e. is it a trailer type vehicle or does it have an engine front?
Thank you for you time in reading this and if you could reply to the email address supplied – smorgan@student.bond.edu.au
Thank you once again
Kind regards
Sam
Leroy,
My husband and I are interested in finding out where you got your cart on wheels. We live in Colorado and probably will not be visiting, but I am sure your que is great. Aundrellj@gmail.com
this cart is no longer, never came back after the 4th of July, I believe its a taco truck at that location now
Thanks for the update Wade. I have made noted changes.
LeRoy’s has moved to SE 12th and Division and is alive and well in our new location, check us out!
I’ve been to Leroy’s several times at their new location (thanks to this site I was able to find it) and it’s great stuff!
The chicken thighs were crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. I also tried the pulled pork, and it’s awesome.
Service is friendly.
Give Leroy’s a try, you won’t be disappointed.
that is great I will be headed there for lunch!
yes! I found it and its very quick, great catfish with a unique and very good breading, he didn’t have the shrimp po’ boy but I was plenty satisfied with what I got, I will definitely be going back for more
just wanted to let people know about Bubba Bernies on Hawthorne, he has very good cajun food as well as different types of po’ boys, he doesn’t open till 5 or 6pm though
Wade’s right about Bubba Bernies; he’s my “competitor” (we’re waaayyy more cooperative than competitive at the Hawthorne pod) and I truly dig his grub. I’ve had most of his menu, and everything has been top notch.

ok comment below me, you are sooo cheap. Come on a 20$ for 2 lunch is nothing to cry about. Who cares if it’s nap time? That guy sounds badass. I would sleep on the job if I could. Why does everyone just wanna complain about everything that has nothing to do with the food?
Talk about the food people!!!!!
these pulled pork sandwiches are fabulous! Smoky, spicy & partnered with just the right amount of coleslaw on a good roll… Leroy’s has relocated to 48th and Division, stop by and check it out!
Watchout for some dank candy bar cupcakes and Funky Fest Tacos late nites only @Stellas on Stark……
Ya know i think i wil be open in the mornin at 11 to supply all the wet cold friends of downtown with a spicy lentil and sausage tomato soup with triple grilled cheese and wild mushroom tomato samitches for 5-buckers
The brisket here is delicious. It’s melt-in-your-mouth tender and has a really nice smoke ring. It comes on top of a piece of white bread that soaks up all the excess sauce.
Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
I was anxious to try this place as I was playing in a charity poker tournament right across the street from it. Which is located at 48th and Division and not 12th like I kept hearing. I had a brisket sandwich. And was not thrilled. For $7, it had a relatively small amount of meat covered in cole slaw. Must be a Carolina thing because you just don’t serve brisket that way down south. And it also was covered in what tasted like a vinegar based sauce which is definately not the way I would prefer it. The meat was tender but not enough for the price. Hog Wild BBQ over off of Johnson Creek and 82 is so much better and they pile on the brisket. Much more worth the money. I won’t be going back, ever.
Go to Hog Wild BBQ off 82nd!
After reading all the mixed reviews about LeRoys along with some that seem written by maybe those who might not be customers, I took up the advice of Mike above and went to Hog Wild BBQ just south of Johnson Creek off 82nd Avenue located in a parking lot. FYI, this cart might have to relocate in the near future (landlord issues). If so, here is the # 503.775.6200
Hog Wild has been in business 6 years making them one of the oldest food carts around. Their one weakness seems to be marketing. I was told they do alot of catering. The food is great yet they do not have their own website and until yesterday did not know about Food Carts of Portland! I’m a food cart junkie and I ended up educating the man about the existence of this website.
I had the 2 meat plate for $9.75. It included two good size portions (my choosing) of brisket and chicken. Along with that came good size portions of (my choice) 2 sides; potato salad and coleslaw, and a role. It was great. After sampling, I went with the mild home-made sauce. I was full and I am a dude.
While I was there every customer who pulled up was obviously a regular. I was offered (without asking) a sample of the pulled pork. The pork was some of the best that I have ever tried. I believe they close at 7PM. Before going there, I suggest calling to check for hours and meat availability. When I arrived at about 6:30PM they were sold out of ribs and chicken breasts.
I felt compelled to post a review on this cart because my husband and I ordered from there yesterday and the person at the counter short-changed us! Our order came to $12, an amount which he stated clearly to us. We handed him a $20 and he said ‘Here’s your change.’ It was a stack of three $1 bills. Thankfully, my husband checked. Enough time had passed that we knew he was done giving us the change- he wasn’t searching for anymore bills. My husband pointed out he was missing a five, to which the counter person slowly said, “I owe you a five.” He reached into the cash drawer and the five was right there. No apologies, no nothing. (I would have thought the short-change was unintentional, except that the fives were right there and his demeanor was sketchy!) When we were waiting, I got up and stood near the window. He was now suddenly gregarious, saying, “Go ahead and refill your tea!!!! Drink up!!!” Pretty sad- I got a bad vibe from it and am NOT going back.
